About Us

Our History

Founded in 2011, Melbourne Strikers Cricket Club was established with a vision of bringing together cricketers from diverse backgrounds in a welcoming, competitive, and community-focused environment.

The club began its journey by entering a team in the Box Hill Reporter District Cricket Association (BHRDCA) and also participated in the MYCA Winter Cricket Competition during its inaugural year. In those early years, the club's primary focus was synthetic cricket, and by 2012 Melbourne Strikers had expanded to field two teams in the BHRDCA. The club also competed in the Eastern Cricket Association (ECA) one-day competitions for several seasons.

As the club continued to grow, many members expressed a strong desire to play turf cricket. Responding to this demand, Melbourne Strikers entered the Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) Sunday One-Day Competition in 2013. What began as a new challenge has become a long-standing commitment, with the club proudly competing in the MCA for over 15 years.

For many seasons, Melbourne Strikers successfully operated with one turf team in the MCA Sunday competition alongside one synthetic team on Saturdays. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the club expanded its presence by fielding two teams in the MCA turf competition. For the 2026-27 season, the club will return to its traditional structure, with one MCA turf team and one synthetic team.

Since its inception, Melbourne Strikers has been fortunate to attract talented and dedicated players whose commitment has helped the club achieve significant success. These efforts have resulted in premiership victories in the BHRDCA One-Day Competition, the MYCA East Division Winter Competition, and the MCA C Grade One-Day Turf Competition.

Today, Melbourne Strikers Cricket Club is proud to be a truly multicultural club that welcomes players of all backgrounds, cultures, and skill levels. While success on the field remains important, the club is equally committed to fostering friendship, respect, inclusiveness, and a strong sense of community. Whether you're an experienced cricketer or taking your first steps into the game, Melbourne Strikers offers a place where everyone is welcome to play, compete, and belong.
